CSR Policy

We answer your questions about our CSR policy and our ECO X CEPTION criteria.

Does L'Exception have a CSR policy?

Chloé is responsible in our team for CSR policy. Our aim is to integrate sustainable, ethical and responsible business practices into every aspect of our business. CSR policy plays an important role at L'Exception as it helps us to minimise the impact our business has on the environment, protect workers' rights, and contribute positively to the communities and stakeholders with whom we operate.

What initiatives is L'Exception taking to limit its environmental impact?

> CSR action plan
We have drawn up a CSR action plan to reduce our environmental impact. This CSR plan has been reviewed by an independent audit firm. We are working on reducing our waste, packaging consumption and the energy consumption of our premises. We favour locally produced items. We limit business travel. Each year, we analyse our impact by carrying out a carbon audit.

> Sustainable purchasing
We sell 50% of products that meet our ECO X CEPTION criteria and are trying to expand our range in this direction. We participate in the circular economy by offering a second-hand service.

> Sustainable production of our own brand
For our L'Exception Paris brand, we are unveiling a collection of essential pieces for men and women's wardrobes: iconic products revisited without compromising on quality and with the main concern of addressing our customers directly without a sales intermediary. We produce mainly in Europe: Italy, Romania and Portugal, and whenever possible we use environmentally-friendly materials (GOTS-certified organic cotton, linen).

> Responsible communication
Finally, we use our magazine to communicate our commitments and we regularly highlight sustainable designers and brands made in France/Europe, using organic, vegan or ethically produced materials.

How to find more responsible products on the L'Exception website?

You can filter products using the ECO X CEPTION criteria, which group together several categories to help guide our customers' purchases by supporting products and brands using organic, recycled or upcycled raw materials or local economic development initiatives (Made in France or Europe). These criteria take into account both ecological criteria (organic or recycled materials) and economic criteria (development of the local economy, fair trade).

Why has L'Exception developed a second-hand service?

As a complement to our traditional sales services, we thought it was important to launch a Second Hand service in partnership with the specialist company The Second Life. With this service, you can return your products in good condition and benefit from vouchers valid at L'Exception.
Opting for our second-hand service is a responsible, economical and ecological choice. It's a way of preserving the environment, supporting social initiatives, reducing waste and expressing your individuality by adopting a unique style.

How does our company guarantee fair working conditions for our employees?

L'Exception is committed to offering fair working conditions and gender parity in its teams (57% women employees), guaranteeing respect for fundamental rights, providing a healthy working environment and giving employees the opportunity to help the company move in the right direction.
The Social and Economic Committee ensures compliance with regulations and the well-being of employees within the company.

How can our customers commit to more responsible consumption?

Our customers can support us in our CSR approach by buying sustainable and ethical ECO X CEPTION products or by using our second-hand service. At the time of purchase, customers can make a donation to Reforest'Action - which contributes to reforestation, and/or make a donation to La fondation des Femmes - which funds campaigns for women's rights. They can find out more about our CSR commitments and policy, and read articles on the subject in our magazine. Our customers can share our values with those around them and encourage others to adopt responsible practices.

How do we communicate our CSR efforts?

We communicate transparently, both internally and externally, about our actions and commitments. We publish an internal newsletter for our employees to raise awareness of sustainable development issues and innovations. In our magazine, we regularly feature designers and sustainable brands Made in France/Europe that use organic, vegan or ethically produced materials.

How do we measure our CSR impact and progress?

We measure our impact using key performance indicators (KPIs) defined in advance with our teams and stakeholders.
Every year, we carry out a Carbon Footprint Assessment, which analyses our ecological footprint, including greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption and waste produced. In 2021, L'Exception's activity generated emissions of 3,807 tCO2, which is 95% less than the average for companies in our sector (8,400.0 tCO2 / year).
We care about the concerns of our stakeholders and their expectations, while integrating our objectives as effectively as possible. We seek their feedback on the perceived impact of our actions in order to identify new opportunities for improvement.
