THE L’EXCEPTION SHIRT
To celebrate our 6th anniversary, L’Exception has launched its first limited edition shirt. We wanted to create something that was essential to every wardrobe: an elegant and fair-fitting silhouette cut from the finest fabric - a product that thinks about the finishing touches. 
DISCOVER THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR SHIRT
For the fabric, we chose an Oxford cotton. Distinguished from poplin by its rich woven texture that comes from mottled yarns, we selected a light blue cotton sourced from an Italian manufacturer – Albini. This prestigious Maison was founded in 1876 and is renowned for its beautiful fabrics. What really drew us to this milliner is their use of Supima Corcoran cotton. This cotton from American origin has been created without the use of chemical fibres and reputed for its fine texture and abrasion resistance. An elite cotton, Supima cotton represents only 1% of worldwide production – the result is a high-quality fabric that’s soft and durable.
FROM DESIGN TO MANUFACTURE
Once the fabric had been selected, we chose to work in collaboration with Portugal’s most famous producer for the construction of our shirts. We created more than 5 prototypes to find the perfect fit for you. The shirt has a slim fit without being too tight – feeling comfortable was an important part of our design process (nothing’s more embarrassing than popping a button when you bend or move). We also decided to taper the sleeve and slim down the cuff to avoid a baggy fit. Ensuring precise finishing touches, seams have been hand stitched using a traditional 3mm English stitch (instead of the industry standard 7mm) – giving this shirt a flattering yet durable functionality. Finally, we carefully studied the finishing touches: a perfectly proportioned French collar with button down fixture for a more casual look, an American button placket (a more casual option) and also a chest pocket (definitely not the place to put leaking pens, but great for a workwear look) the pocket has been finished with reinforced stitching that’s both discreet and elegant. We decided to use genuine mother of pearl buttons and the shirt is sold with extra – just in case (if you lose a button, we guarantee to send you replacements for life). The shirt has been cut with a curved hem which allows it to look just as stylish when tucked in or out of a pant waistband. We also think you will appreciate the additional hem gussets we added to protect seams and ensure improved durability wear after wear.

STYLING TIPS
We chose a light blue colour, which is considered the easiest everyday shade to style. Thanks to its form-flattering cut, it can be combined with jeans, navy blue or khaki green chinos for a refined yet relaxed look. An elegant design with the ability to elevate any outfit, we wanted it to be as versatile as possible.
We asked our friends at Comme un Camion to offer their advice: Discover styling tips from Max & Rody! ‘To effectively showcase this shirt, we have constructed two looks. The first, worn by Max, is a perfect example of formalwear. He’s wearing the limited edition L’Exception shirt with a navy suit from Paul & Joe, a blue tie from De Bonne Facture and a pair of brown suede brogues by Kleman. For me, I prefer something a bit more casual, that’s why I’ve chosen these Kenzo chinos, a pair of trainers from National Standard, a timepiece from March L.A.B and a jacket by Le Mont Saint Michel.’

Our final priority was to provide a shirt that was affordable and fairly priced. Considering the high-quality construction and fabrics, this shirt would normally retail for around €150. Approaching producers personally, we were able to reduce our margins and pass on these savings to you at €89 – we are without a doubt that this offers the very best quality/price ratio on the market.
