Havaianas, which means "Hawaiian" in Portuguese, was created in 1962 by Sao Paulo Alpargatas. Inspired by the traditional Japanese Zori sandal with a rice-straw sole, the brand created a rubber flip-flop that is both strong and light, and non-slip and comfortable. It is distinguished from other brands by the rice grain texture of its sole.

L'Exception appreciates Havaianas for its responsible attitude towards the environment. Indeed, Havaianas through its partnership with the Institute for the Protection of the Environment (IPÊ) participates in the development of the forest and wildlife of Brazil. The brand also acts in favor of the marine fauna of the Abrolhos region, by supporting the NGO Conservation International. And that's not all! 60% of the soles of Havaianas models are made from recycled materials. It is the excess material on the production lines of their flip-flops to make the models of their latest collections that is used.
