In sixty years of creation, Carel has accompanied four generations of women. They change, they travel, they work, they are free in body and mind and they love these shoes that look like them.

The sixties, the Bardot years, the New Wave reinvents the cinema, an air of freedom floats by. From students to Air France stewardesses, they all want multicoloured ballerinas.

With the Seventies, Carel has a stroke of genius: the Marquis, a ballerina as supple as a slipper, as elegant as a pump. This was the era of designers: for their fashion shows, they entrusted Carel with the feet of the models.

In the 1990's, humour and art became involved: ballerinas by Souris, Crayon, Canard, Golf, or pumps painted by Rauschbach... The boutiques multiplied. At the turn of the century, Carel remained timeless, even for the youngest.

At Carel, the requirement starts with the quality of the leathers selected in Italy. Then it's about the cutting and the shapes, the realization takes place most of the time in the Florentine workshops where the workers pass on their knowledge from father to son and where many models are manufactured each year in limited series.

In the shoe industry, one technical term alone sums up what is essential: the shoe. It represents the whole requirement of a perfect shoe, i.e. comfortable even after a tiring day.
