For the past 7 years, L’Exception has been passionately supporting French grassroots talent. Today, in our ‘On The Come Up’ showcase, we’re proud to retrace the history of three designers that have established themselves as an international success story.


Jour/né is a brand of two halves, reflecting the essence of creativity in its duality. Crafting a collection for day and night, everyday separates and workweek casuals define its complimentary contrasts, representing a figurative and physical confluence. Founded in 2015 by Léa Sebban, Lou Menais and Jerry Journo, the young French design house embraces pluralism in every aspect of its identity, creating perennial separates rich in a shared and collective consciousness. Each season, Jour/né adds another chapter to its style narrative, crafting common threads between the pieces and the women that wear them.

Rooted in Mediterranean culture but inspired by the world at large, Jour/né is influenced by everything from sportswear to vintage design and classic Italian cuts to high-quality fabrics, creating a uniquely Parisian aesthetic that borrows from across the spectrum. The result is a selection of chic silhouettes punctuated with retro detailing and vibrant shades via assorted fabric matching. Removing prêt à porter from its pedestal to create something practical, wearable and comfortable, each garment is accented by a sense of innovation and an inherent love-affair with fabrics. Working in partnership with some of Europe’s most respected artisans in France and Portugal, each range is beautifully crafted to the highest standard –attracting both discerning style aficionados and the wider public alike. The Jour/né woman demands exclusively – defining the strong, urban and modern matriarch.

In 2015, before the brand had reached its first year of business, the brand’s three creators were selected as finalists at the ANDAM Fashion Awards. Thanks to the designers’ respective training in some of the most prestigious French Maisons, each collection is approached with a professional, structured and passionate drive. Since then, the brand has risen through the ranks and from 2017, has been invited to show at Paris Fashion Week.

For SS18, Jour/né is back with a collection influenced by their second love, with silhouettes that pay homage to the indie film protagonists of Pedro Almodovar with a touch of eccentricity taken from the works of Frida Kahlo.
