Etudes continues to celebrate the feistiness and experimental spirit of its quintessential heroes

Études is a Paris-based brand that expresses itself through different types of media, from men's fashion to book publishing. By collaborating with talent from diverse artistic backgrounds, Études acts as both a driver and a reflection of the contemporary landscape. Its vision is the result of an ever-evolving union of cultures, methods and references.
The brand is particularly known for its graphic elements (such as the Blue Klein, and the adoption of the twelve stars emblematic of the European flag), as well as the various references to street culture and modernist design. While echoing the creative editions between the brand and its favorite artists.

Études is driven by art, photography and urban culture.
Located in the heart of Paris, in the Marais district and surrounded by art galleries, the boutique on rue Debelleyme presents the brand's collections but also publications and various projects it initiates. Its design and shades are uncluttered, the store is designed to also accommodate the contributions of various guests, and has an artist studio.
The brand's design studio is also just a few steps away from the boutique.
This is the heart of all the thinking from which Études creations emanate: creating links between the world of streetwear, sportswear and luxury. The collections are thought in a complex uniqueness, building bridges between each universe to make one.
A cohesion is established between photographic, graphic and contemporary art by inviting artists to take part in the creation.

Who is Jean Michel Basquiat?
Born in Brooklyn into a family of mixed origins (Puerto Rican on his mother's side and Haitian on his father's), Jean-Michel Basquiat was a very precocious child in the field of languages and drawing.
From graffiti to painting, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) is one of the comets of contemporary art. Died of an overdose at the age of 27, this young friend of Warhol elevated street art to the rank of fine art. His work reflects the reminiscences of his family background (his Haitian origins), combined with the influences of pop art. He became one of the great figures of African Americanism in the art world.

Jean-Michel Basquiat produced thousands of works on paper, often complex. Drawing is an experimental practice for him: superimpositions of words, sketches that evoke graffiti linked together by an enigmatic thread. We frequently find, among other things, skeletal and frightening forms. So many subjects that refer to the theme of death, a real obsession of the artist.
