Charles Beckman, an American shoes merchant, based Red Wing Shoes in 1905, in a little city of Minnesota called Red Wing, wich explains the name of the brand and its logo in the shape of red wing. The first shoe was a leather boot with reins, perfect to go to work. Red Wing Shoes was then a specialist in work shoes, adapted to the various trades. In 1920 in particular, the brand proposes the Oil King Boots, a boot with laces created for the oilfields workers. Gloria, the first laced boot for women proposed by the brand, appeared as for her in 1926. In 1932 appeares the Billy Boot, with a small pocket on the side to put on his pocketknife. Today, strong of more than a century of experience, the brand proposes many shoes for men : laced boots, Chelsea boots, Chukka boots, but also elegant shoes to go to work, the Oxfords. Concerning women, the choice is also wide : boots with lacing or elastic bands, flat or high heels or boots with reins.
