In the summer of 1988, Mark Bloom (aka Joe Komodo) was one of a young band of pals who loved to travel and find colorful and interesting fabrics, mixing them into the quirky English styles that were emblematic of Acid House youth culture. which dominated Britain at the time. During a trip to Bali, Mark and his friends interacted with the locals and were inspired by traditional techniques, which inspired him to create a brand that would bring something new to British street style.

The brand uses top quality organic, natural and eco-friendly fibres, and innovates with innovative fabrics such as green PU coating and recycled PET, sourced from plastic bottles. Most of their products are vegan and all are cruelty free. Single-use plastic in the supply chain is no longer used.

As a member of 1% for the Planet, Komodo is committed to protecting our only home. Through this initiative, Komodo donates to the Sumatran Orangutan Society which restores natural rainforests and ecosystems through the purchase and conversion of palm oil plantations. Komodo is GOTS certified and is a member of the soil association. Komodo works closely with their factories to ensure that their garments are produced in a safe working environment where all workers are paid fair wages.
