Goat leather is a type of leather derived from goatskin. It's a leather with a smooth, robust finish. Like lamb leather, it is softer, lighter and stronger than cow leather. It is also renowned for being supple, flexible and breathable. It is mostly used for binding books, making luggage, shoes, wallets, belts, jackets and coats. It is also increasingly popular for furnishings and interior decoration. Different types of goat leather exist: full grain, top grain, nubuck and suede. Quality and attributes vary according to type. For example, full grain is the most durable and qualitative. Neither sanded nor polished, it reveals the natural texture and imperfections of the hide.
Where does goat leather come from?
Goat leather is produced in different countries around the world, but the most popular ones come from India, Pakistan and Nigeria.
Material transformation processes (from animal to garment)
Like lamb and cow leather, goatskin will undergo a multitude of processes before it can be considered leather and then worked to make fashion items or furnishings. The process is called megisserie. It consists in transforming a putrescible product into a finished product, capable of dressing you.
If you're interested in the megisserie and tanning process (the same method as megisserie, but for larger hides), we invite you to read the leather article, which explains the various stages of this method in detail.

How to care for goat leather
.
Like all other types of leather, goat leather requires special care and cleaning to keep it in the best possible condition for as long as possible.
First of all, it's advisable to keep items away from light and heat sources to avoid discoloration or cracking. They should also not be overexposed to water, which could damage the leather and make it stiff. Items should be stored in a cool, ventilated, dry place in an air-permeable bag or box. Do not use plastic storage units, which can retain moisture and encourage mildew. To remove dirt and product residues, use a soft bristle brush, but be careful to use gentle strokes, as vigorous brushing could damage the leather.
Now it's time to clean up any dirt or stains. Several methods are available. You can use a damp cloth or sponge, for example. Just use a mild cleaning soap mixed with a little water and apply to the stain with a soft cloth. Then wipe with a damp cloth and leave to air dry.
You can also use a cleaning product specially formulated for goat leather. Simply follow the instructions.
Rubber is a natural or synthetic material with an elastic and waterproof texture that is used in many sectors. It holds an important place in the fashion industry.
Polyester is the most widely used synthetic fiber in the textile industry. Alone or blended, polyester yarns are light, easy to care for and highly elastic.
