Laurence Appietto Raffaelli, of Corsican origin, founded her women’s fashion brand in 2004. After a trip to Bali, she created her first pants, which met great success in her concept-store in Porto-Vecchio. The desire of the designer was to offer simple but feminine pieces, designed in fluid and voluptuous materials, with plain colors. We find in the Karma Koma collections the mixed influences of Corsica and Bali. The « île de beauté » finds itself in this authentic spirit and these sober and clean lines, while the Indonesian island offers warmth and rich and spicy colors. All Karma Koma pieces are made in Balinese craft workshops. The name of the brand comes from a song of the group Massive Attack named Karmakoma, but also refers to Karma, the spiritual law encouraging to do good around oneself, to influence destiny in a positive way. The name of the brand thus illustrates its style at the same time bohemian and rock.
