William Scholl, an American of German origin, became interested in shoes and orthopedic problems at an early age. He first borrowed tools to repair shoes from his grandfather, who was a shoemaker, to earn a little money. Then, at age 18, in 1899, he moved to Chicago and worked in a small shoe store specializing in orthopedic shoes. He found that many of his customers had podiatric problems. In 1906, Dr. William Scholl founded his own brand of footwear, known as Scholl's and Dr. Scholl's in North America. In the 1960's, when society had a desire for an active lifestyle, Scholl introduced clogs, which are very famous today, that tone the leg muscles with every step.Dr. Scholl passed away in 1968, but the brand, now bought out, continues to exist. In the 90's and 2000's, Scholl launched new comfortable shoes with unique and patented technologies, and the Scholl Iconic collection was born in 2021, with the desire to pass on the brand's heritage.
