The band 81355 (pronounced Bless) is the result of three stalwarts of the Indianapolis music scene - Sirius Blvck, Oreo Jones and Sedcairn Archives. Although they have worked together in the past, this is their first full-length collaboration, and the result is the stunning and distinctive Time I'll be of use. At once mystical and pure, dark and danceable, the project wrestles with preconceived truths and imagines alternative realities with a better future. These daydreams, wandering through the burning streets, sound like a cross between the ghost of 70s progressive electronic music with its innovative eccentricities and acrobatic wordplay delivered with strong resolve. Though surreal in its metaphors and abstraction, it does not betray a present consciousness. Reflecting on racism in the context of pandemic 2020 and a faltering democracy, each member started from a synchronised space, and the recording process ended up being largely intuitive. These three musical vagabonds ultimately deliver an incredible record of poetic, heady alternative hip-hop.
