APC, three little letters that speak to all and mean a lot. APC stands for Atelier de Production et Création, because there can be no creation without production, and vice versa. The high-end French ready-to-wear brand was founded in 1987 by Jean Touitou, known for his atypical, even polemical personality. After working alongside Kenzo and Agnès B, he created his first independent clothing collection, which he simply called "Hiver 1987". The following year, he launched a women's collection. He worked hand in hand with his wife Judith Touitou, who was in charge of the brand's artistic direction. In the 90s, he began collaborating with designers such as Martine Sitbon. At that time, we were not yet in the era of collaborations, so this model was very innovative. Numerous APC clothing collections were created thanks to these collaborations. In the 2000s, the brand went international, and in 2023 was sold to the L Catterton investment funds.
