Their history began in 1850, with the first textile mill founded in the town of the same name. It supplied wool to the region's haberdashers and knitters. In 1889, Léon Legallais, the mill's director, decided to create clothing for sailors in Normandy and Brittany. The company concentrated on knitwear, particularly sweaters and cardigans.
Today, Saint James is renowned for its iconic sailor sweater, whose quality is recognized throughout France. Saint James, which has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, perpetuates the French craft tradition in textile manufacturing. Yarn inspection, knitting and assembly are all essential steps in the Saint James process.

We recommend handwashing this item or machine washing at 30°c. If your machine allows, select a special wool setting with a 400 to 500 per minute low spin cycle. Alternatively, professional dry cleaning is permitted. Contact with bleach-based products and tumble drying is not advised as it can damage the knit. Iron on a low heat.
