Description

Made from full-grain leather and hand-stitched, the penny loafer can be worn all year round. The upper is unlined leather, the heel is molded rubber, and the sole is treated natural leather for strength, flexibility and waterproofing. Dan moccasins are a tribute to the founders of the Sebago brand. The Dan moccasin is the most iconic Penny Loafer, with a long, long history: moccasins are thought to be the very first footwear made by mankind, inspired by the Native Americans of the state of Maine. The first moccasins were sewn by hand, using the "beef roll" technique, a small stitch around the front of the foot so characteristic of moccasins, which are still sewn by hand today by the finest craftsmen. From President John F. Kennedy to James Dean and Michael Jackson, all have contributed to the popularization of the iconic moccasin.
