Material transformation processes (from animal to garment)

Unlike the tanning practiced on large hides ( calves, cows, bulls etc), lamb leather is produced using the megisserie process. These 2 terms refer to 2 different products, yet the processes are identical. Tanners and fitters work to transform a putrescible product into a finished product, capable of dressing you.

How to care for lambskin leather

.
Lamb leather has a very fine grain, and is very fragile. It therefore requires special care to prevent damage and keep it intact for as long as possible.
As soon as you buy it, you'll need to waterproof it with a special product, to prevent it from being stained by rain.
Regular cleaning is recommended to prevent everyday dirt from becoming embedded.
You should use a soap specially designed for lambskin and nothing else, as lambskin is very fragile and can easily be stained by unsuitable products. Apply these products by scrubbing with a bristle brush. This will distribute the soap evenly over all the surfaces to be cleaned. Excess soap should be blotted up with a chamois cloth.
This cleansing should be completed with a cream or milk to moisturize the skin.
