Toasties is an accessories brand born in France in the spirit of Maria Lye, an Australian living in Belleville Paris. Maria loves to collaborate with the artisans of her neighbourhood.

During 2016, when working with fur in Paris, Maria noticed two things - the amount of leftover sheepskins that were discarded by the French luxury fashion houses … and the crippling cold of Parisian winters. “After working in different studios I was concerned about the amount of skins that were put aside and forgotten once an item had been completed. Coming from a warm country, I really felt the cold - especially my feet.” Wanting to give these discarded skins a second life and driven with a desire to wage war against the freezing temperatures, Maria started to design ethical, practical and colourful accessories. The result is Toasties - a functional product with a low-key vibe.

The Toasties story began with customised sheepskin insoles - carefully cut and shaped from leftover sheepskin stock by French or European artisans and then bonded with the finest quality natural Portuguese cork.

Toasties 2017-2018 Autumn/Winter collection reflects Maria’s passion for simple shapes and textures in her design of everyday objects for children and adults. Besides her signature insoles, new additions include bum bags, glasses cases, hoods and collars. These are just a few of the new designs to provide warmth and comfort to Toasties girls and guys.
