In 2006, globetrotter Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina. Very touched by these poor children who didn’t even have shoes on, Blake wants to help. He created Toms brand, with a strong will to act for the most deprived. For every pair of Toms shoes purchased, the brand offers a pair of shoes to a child in need. Toms then embarked on the creation of sunglasses. With each purchase of a pair of eyeglasses, the company helps a needy person regain their sight through corrective eyewear, medical treatments and/or surgical procedures. In 2020, Toms has already donated more than 95 million pairs of shoes worldwide, in more than 70 countries. The company constantly seeks to develop new projects in partnership with humanitarian associations. Toms has also launched a campus-based program to educate students about responsible consumption and social entrepreneurship. The brand name was first Shoes For Better Tomorrows then Tomorrow’s Shoes then today TOMS : shoes for a better tomorrow.
